HORRIBLE FOOD!!

I have never had such a bad takeaway in all my life as the one i had from here. Ordering on the phone was easy and the delivery service was timely but the food was disgusting, i ended up throwing almost all £16 worth of the order away!! The roast pork in hoi sin sauce was bizarre - the sauce seemed like a watered-down version of hoi sin, tasted very little like it and was a light brown in colour. The pork was cubed and had fat, grisly bits in it, like really cheap iceland or reconstituted meat. The veg in it was obviously from a packet of frozen - all uniformly cubed and absolutely tasteless... really not sure what some of the veg was, seemed like swede!! - not what you'd expect in a dish of this origin. The prawn toast had been deep-fried to the max!!! and i dont think it had ever been in contact with any prawns - none at all on it and not even a tast of any. it was shrivelled up, hard, greasy, and even the garden birds refused it when i put it on the bird table! The beef chow mein managed to seem dry and excessively greasy all at the same time - quite an achievement!! the beef, although lean, came in a stingy portion and was dry and shrivelled. the noodles were drenched in grease, so much so that i could smell the greasiness of it as soon as i opened the bag. The only veg in this dish were a few beansprouts, which had gone to mush in all the grease. I sampled all of the dishes I ordered but could only manage a mouthful or two of each before my stomach turned and i had to throw them away. I even had to take them out to the wheelie bin because the smell of the grease was horrible in the house. Never order from here - the food is revolting....I can cook much more authentic dishes myself, and at least they are much healthier! If you're looking for a chinese takeaway that delivers to Mickleover then use the one on Oaklands Avenue in Littleover instead - much nicer, fresh ingredients and authentic food (I recommend the prawn dumplings for starters).

    Happy House

The Happy House takeaway on Ladybank Road provides all your favourite traditional and authentic Chinese foods. You can also order English dishes such as fish and chips expanding your options and you’ll always get reliable service with your orders and deliveries.

    Good selection

I have never had a bad takeaway from here, they have generous portions, cooked to order and good value. I love the Satay Beef with Onions, and their egg fried rice is really tasty and not too greasy. I think they deliver but I always order over the phone, and it is ready when I get there.
